Katie Martin

Katie Martin brings 28 years of professional experience and a multidisciplinary design perspective to her work. A graduate of NC State, where she studied industrial design and graphic design, Katie is passionate about taking a blank space and bringing it to life through thoughtful, engaging design.

Her interest in educational environments is especially personal. Katie believes schools serve as a home away from home for students, making it important to create spaces that generate excitement, energy, and a sense of belonging. Her experience with Carolina International School reinforced this career perspective, where she worked with students to bring energy to the school environment through interior graphics while also contributing to the school’s website, marketing, and photography.

Katie’s work has been featured in design-focused articles in American School & University, and her experience includes recognition through Learning by Design awards while at her last firm. She also serves with the Concord High School athletic booster club, where her children have (and currently are) attended school.

A South Mecklenburg High School graduate, Katie has longstanding ties to the region. Creativity has also been a thread throughout her family, inspired in part by her grandfather’s passion for painting. Outside the office, Katie carries that creative spirit into her home pottery studio, where she enjoys hand-building and throwing pottery. When she’s not creating, she enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on her children at sporting events, traveling, and spending time with their two dogs. Their love of dogs has also led them to open their home to visiting dogs, making dog boarding a fun part of family life.
