Chris Muryn
AIA, CNU, CPTEDArchitect
Chris has over 17 years of experience in the field of Architecture and Urban Design. After graduating in 2008 from the University of Kentucky with a BArch, he found his way to Charlotte to attend UNC Charlotte. In 2010 he graduated with a Master’s in Urban Design. He became a licensed architect in 2014 and accomplished his 40 Hour CPTED Certificate in 2023. Chris’ design interests range from how a group of buildings fit into a landscape in master planning all the way down to how those buildings are detailed in Construction Documents.
Chris has worked on a large variety of projects for retail, grocers, hospitality, office, healthcare, parking structures, CCRC, multifamily housing, K-12, Higher Education and mixed use clients. His mom was a middle school math and history teacher growing up. It is a tradition he was able to carry on as an Adjunct professor at UNC Charlotte in the Fall of 2019. He believes that all great places tell a story. That story builds as the buildings support the landscape and the landscape supports the building. He looks forward to finding the stories to tell in all his work as we build up and continue traditions of learning and community services.
Chris has served as a commissioner on the Historic District Commission of Charlotte (2019-2022). He was the co-chair for tours and programing for the Congress for a New Urbanism’s (CNU) Congress 31 in Charlotte, NC putting together over 27 tours of the city and the surrounding area with his team. He frequently is a guest critique with both the UNC Charlotte Architecture and Urban Design programs. He and his wife Lesley, are avid bicyclists as they bike around town, hauling around their two sons Miles and Anderson and dog Ramsey. They both volunteer regularly with Sustain Charlotte, a local bike advocacy group, and the creator of Biketoberfest, the event where they met.
