Classroom and Administration Building – SPCC
During the advanced planning phase, an evaluation of campus buildings, campus traffic patterns and parking, and local zoning requirements were investigated. Working alongside South Piedmont Community College faculty and staff, overall program and budget goals were set for the campus masterplan based on visits to similar Community Colleges in North Carolina. The advanced planning study was successfully used for funding the design portion of the project.
Set on axis with the main campus entry, this signature building serves as the anchor for future master plan phases. Building program includes Biology and Microbiology classrooms and labs, computer labs, Student Services including all Basic Skills and Developmental Education labs, the campus Bookstore, Cafeteria Space while housing the President’s Office and support spaces.
Designed in conjunction with new Sustainability requirements, the project implements a variety of measures for saving energy, including efficient HVAC systems and water conservation.
