Central Piedmont Community College – Worrell Hall
The completed project includes a two-story addition at the front of the existing facility, along Elizabeth Avenue. The 15,000 SF addition was designed to change the outdated appearance of the existing building, and bring it into conformance with the College’s current Design Guidelines. All design work was coordinated with the City of Charlotte’s streetscape improvements along Elizabeth Avenue. New spaces in the addition include general purpose and specialty classrooms, faculty offices, a fitness center, and conference rooms.
In addition to the new construction, the entire 60,000 SF of the existing building was renovated to add Classrooms, Offices, Conference Rooms, Locker Rooms, and Specialty Studios. An existing two-story Lobby was filled in to expand the second floor, providing a connection to the addition and additional floor space for Classrooms. Other work included a complete renovation of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and reconstruction of existing toilets.
